ISIS Direct Inelastic Data Reduction

Inelastic data reduction is the process of transforming data obtained in inelastic scattering experiment into the data, describing inelastic cross-sections of the processes under investigation.

To process the data recorded by Direct Inelastic Instruments and obtain the desired cross-sections ISIS scientists use Mantid-based reduction program and range of additional data and set-up parameters, tuning up this program to the particular inelastic instrument and experimental conditions. Users also provided with access to the computing cluster, dedicated to help them to get from raw experimental data to the data, describing cross-sections easy and efficiently.

From user's point of view the processing of their results should be straightforward:

  1. User logs into his or her isiscompute account and should see a folder with the RB-name of the proposal, which has been approved for the experiment. Within this folder a user should find a script to process his data and a folder named autoreduction. The folder should contain the reduced data processed automatically by autoreduction service, which is separate powerful machine picking up the result of the experiments as they finished and rapidly reduce them using script similar to the one user have in his RB folder.
  2. If necessary user opens the script he founds in his RB folder, changes the reduction parameters which have the physical meaning and the user is familiar with and reprocess some or all data if necessary. He should not need to set up Mantid or modify parameters, relevant to the instrument operations.
  3. If necessary and convenient, the user should be able to change some parameters and reprocess some or all his runs using web-interface and autoreduction service.
  4. In his account user also finds links to sample Horace and (in a future) Mantid scripts to provide further analysis of his data. Common part of the
